Privacy Policy

This site is a reference work. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into and no form to fill in, which keeps this policy shorter and plainer than most. What follows describes what actually happens when you visit, not what a template assumes.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth or any other personal detail. There are no accounts, no newsletter sign-up and no enquiry forms of ours anywhere on this site. Nothing you type is sent to us, because there is nothing of ours on the site to type into. The sponsored listings are the one exception worth naming: the ZIP searches in them and in the sponsored bar at the bottom of the screen send what you type to Esyoh, the network that serves them, and their links lead to Esyoh and the advertiser, who collect anything you fill in there, not us.

We do not sell or rent personal information, because we do not hold any to sell. We run no retargeting pixels, no social media trackers, no session recording and no heat mapping. We do run one advertising network, described below.

Analytics

This site currently runs no analytics. No Google Analytics and no analytics cookie of any kind is loaded. The advertising described below sets no cookies either, so at the time of writing this site sets no cookies at all.

We may enable privacy-respecting analytics later to count visits and see which pages are useful. If we do, this section will be updated before it goes live to name the provider, the cookies it sets and what it receives.

Advertising

Content pages carry sponsored school listings, each labeled Ad. On large screens there is also a sponsored column under the contents list, and after you scroll, a ZIP search bar can appear at the bottom of the screen, labeled Ad as well. All of them are served by Esyoh, at esyoh.com, which is an advertising network for schools, and this site earns a fee when a reader contacts a school through them. They are the only third-party content on the site. The about, methodology, privacy, terms and advertising disclosure pages carry none; the disclosure page explains how to tell the listings apart from the rankings.

Loading them sends Esyoh the address of the page you are on, its title and its main heading, so the listings match the subject, and your IP address reaches them as part of the request, which is how the listings are matched to a rough location. Esyoh records that a listing was shown once it comes into view. Its script also works out an identifier from your browser and device settings, such as screen size, time zone and language, and sends it with each request; when you follow a listing, it adds a coded summary of those settings to the link, which Esyoh's own script describes as a check against fraudulent clicks. Following one of their links takes you to Esyoh first and then to the school, which is how the referral is credited.

It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. We checked this in a browser rather than taking it on trust. We do not pass Esyoh your name, your email address or anything you have typed, because we do not hold any of those. A ZIP code typed into a listing or the bar opens Esyoh's site in a new tab and goes to Esyoh under its own privacy policy. If you block the script, the listings, the column and the bar never appear and the rest of the page works exactly as it does now.

The listings are laid out by a script this site serves itself, which rearranges what Esyoh sends so it matches the page. It sends nothing anywhere and stores nothing. It can report views and clicks of the listings to an analytics service, but none is loaded, so it reports nothing.

What Is Stored on Your Device

No cookies. If you use the light and dark toggle in the header, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key theme so the site does not flash the wrong colors the next time you open it. If you close the sponsored ZIP search bar at the bottom of the screen, a note saying so is kept in session storage under esy-sticky-dismissed, so it stays closed for the rest of your visit; session storage clears when you close the tab. Neither value ever leaves your device, and clearing your browser storage removes both.

Server Logs

This site is served as static files by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, which keeps standard access and security logs. Those logs are how any web host distinguishes a real visitor from an attack, and they are handled under Cloudflare's own privacy terms. We do not use them to build profiles of visitors.

Links to Schools and Other Sites

Every program on this site links out to the school's own page, and our pages cite federal sources including IPEDS and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, along with accrediting and certifying bodies such as CAHME, AUPHA, NAB, ACHE, MGMA, NAHQ and HFMA. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site, subject to their privacy policy and their trackers, not ours. We have no control over and take no responsibility for what they collect.

How This Site Makes Money

This site earns a fee when readers contact schools through the sponsored listings, served by the ad network Esyoh and each labeled Ad. Those listings are adverts: they are not scored, not ranked, and cannot affect any ranking. Rankings, accreditation status, wage data and program structure come from official records and are reported the same way whether or not a school advertises.

The sponsored listings, and the affiliate links in them, are how this site supports itself. What it earns from them pays for the research, the data updates and the hosting behind every page, and keeps the site free to read, with no account and no paywall.

Worth being precise about what that means today: the links in the rankings are plain outbound links to schools' own pages. We do not operate lead forms and we do not pass visitor information to schools or to any advertising partner; what Esyoh receives, it collects through its own script, as described under Advertising. If that ever changes, this policy and the disclosure will change with it, and the change will be dated at the top of this page.

Children

This site is written for people choosing a university degree and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them, which is straightforward here given we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Your Rights

Privacy laws including the GDPR in Europe and the UK, and the CCPA and CPRA in California, give you rights to access, correct, delete and port personal data an organization holds about you, and to object to its processing. We hold no personal data about visitors, so in practice there is nothing for us to return or erase.

The exception is any email you choose to send us. If you write to us, we hold that email in order to reply to it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. To exercise any right, or to ask what we hold, write to hello@savomediagroup.com.

We share nothing with data brokers and we sell no personal information. The one thing that leaves this site is the request that loads the sponsored listings described above, which carries your IP address, the page you are on and the device identifier to Esyoh. California law treats some advertising disclosures of that kind as sharing, so if you would rather it did not happen, blocking the script stops it completely and costs you nothing else on the page. Changes to This Policy

If what we collect changes, this page changes first and the date at the top moves. The cases most likely to trigger that are enabling analytics and adding any form that submits information.
